Die Corona-Pandemie hat in den letzten zwei Jahren den europäischen Tourismus, insbesondere in den urbanen Räumen, zeitweise zum Erliegen gebracht. Trotz politischer Gegenmassnahmen gerieten der Hotel- und Gastronomiemarkt sowie Mobilitätsunternehmen – darunter die Flugbranche – stark unter Druck und Konkursmeldungen häuften sich. In unmittelbarer Reaktion kam es zur Neupositionierung von Hotelimmobilien, touristische Projekte wurden vorübergehend gestoppt und Dienstleister reagierten auf das veränderte Reiseverhalten ihrer Kunden/-innen. Wo steht die europäische Tourismusbranche im Jahr 2022 und welche Entwicklungen werden uns in der Gestaltung von urbanen Räumen nachhaltig beschäftigen?
ULI Switzerland NEXT diskutiert diese und weitere Themen in einer virtuellen Expertenrunde mit Vertretern aus Hotellerie, Immobilieninvestoren, -entwicklern und städtischer Verwaltung. European hospitality in a post-pandemic world
Few industries have been hit as hard by COVID-19 as the hospitality sector. Over the past two years, the Corona pandemic has temporarily brought European and especially urban tourism to a standstill. Despite political measures, the hotel market as well as travel and transport companies – including the airline industry – were and still are under heavy pressure. In immediate response, hotel properties were re-positioned, tourism development projects were temporarily suspended, and service providers needed to react to changing needs of the travellers.
What are the main implications from the pandemic for the future of the hospitality sector? Which developments in terms of customer needs and expectations impact the industry in the long term and what are the lasting effects on the design of urban spaces?
ULI Switzerland NEXT discusses these and other topics in a virtual expert panel with representatives from the hotel industry, real estate investors, developers and municipal administration. Rainer Marti, partner at Fahrländer Partner Raumentwicklung and NEXT Chair ULI Switzerland, is responsible for organisation and moderation.
